I have read to use 5mw red line laser and also 1mw red line laser. When I ordered my parts from Germany I looks at what was listed for the FabScan Pi build. It listed 1mw which I ordered.
Which one is proper?

The kit is delivered with a 1 mW laser, because a lot of schools asked for a 1 mW laser instead of 5 mW (safety precautions). But a 5 mW will also be fine.
