Does the FabScan software provide a feature to use laser movement with a servo or stepper motor, cause the case provides some options to mount a servo or stepper.

No  there is no implementation for the servo/stepper laser movement until now. It was on the todo years ago and never implemented. But the case is ready to add a stepper or servo for laser movement.

For the laser movement by stepper motor, two inputs for zero position of the stepper motor position seem to be missing at the fabscan HAT.

Background: Stepper motors need a reference point for positioning, which has to be approached during initialization, because otherwise the control electronics has no idea of the current orientation of the laser (motor). Analogous to the homing of CNC machines and 3D printers.

In principle, it is possible to run the motor against a fixed position without unnecessarily stressing the mechanics if the motor drivers are suitable and the circuitry and programming are appropriate. But this would be more complex to implement.

With servos the world looks different, since these determine the current angle of the servo horn internally and carry out suitable movements to the target angle automatically.

Is it planned to provide corresponding inputs in a new revision of the FabScan HAT?
