Can I use the FabScan without an internet connection?

Hello everybody,

as a novice in the forum but also in dealing with the FabScan Pi.

I bought the FabScan Pi kit with one laser.

Hence my first question: Is it possible to operate this scanner without the internet?

I live in Brandenburg and this state is famous worldwide for its poor internet coverage...

HAT is soldered and assembled, the current image is uploaded to Raspberry and started, registration is done.

I'm glad I got this scanner assembled with no damage (:o)). Commissioning unfortunately only ran until:

pi@fabscabpi:~$

What next? Without internet !!! Is it possible to connect the FabScan Pi to a LapTop (Windows 7) like a normal scanner? Can I then use the software on this LapTop and then create STL models? With the LapTop I can access the Internet better in other places.

I would be happy to finally get help here in the forum and would be grateful for any information.

How can I switch back to an older version (stable) of the software?

You need to know the number of the older version you want to step back to (e.g.: 0.4.0-b373) :

Open a console (or remote ssh-console).

Type in: sudo apt-get install fabscanpi-server=0.4.0-b373

Follow the questions in the installation procedure and finally restart the FabScanPi again.

NOTE: Please make sure you selected the correct packet source in the /etc/apt/sources.list

The calibrations fails every time. What can I do?

The laser and the LED-light are needed for the calibration, they must be installed and be able to work. Make sure the box is closed during calibration so that no external light can cause problems.

Do I have to perform the calibration every time when I restart my FabScanPi?

No, the calibration data will be stored. We recommend to perform a calibration every time when the FabScanPi has been shipped, modified or the scan results show signs of deformation.
