@desperate250

I got a report from another user with the same behavior. I will have a closer look this weekend.

@mario

We talked at the Makerfaire Hanover about the two lasers and you suggested a more powerful variant. But I can't remember ☹️

Can you please tell again which lasers are better to use?

Thanks a lot!

Uwe

OK I understand that. However, the Fabscan software 0.8.0 is not able to save even the ply file locally. Unfortunately, I'm not a developer so I cannot fix anything. I will go back to 0.7.0 for the time being.

@desperate250

use the ftp-program to save the scanned .ply file

Well after a bit of a break I plan on loading up V0.8.0 and I read this about it not saving the scans. Should I hold off for now. Knowing very little about software I am not sure of  "use the ftp-program to save the scanned .ply file"

Than you - Alan

What does not work on my 0.8.0 is the "file manager" in the browser. I can save the .ply directly after the scan, but I can neither convert it to .stl nor use the built-in file manager to save or delete it afterwards. The files are still there, though. You can use ftp or scp to save them afterwards.

To get around this, I would rather start with version 0.7.0 or wait until 0.8.0 is usable.

Thank you for your reply. Best that I hold off. With my little background if I install 7 and then try 8 when fixed I will most likely have trouble in do so!

Regards - Alan

@alan, the biggest news is -- in v 0.8.0 you have 2-laser support (not in  the v0.7.0). The .ply file will be saved on the raspberry. But you must downloadet this with a externt ftp-programm on your pc.

Perhaps I will install 8 and play with it. Very excited about the two lasers!

Have you been in contact with Mario?  Hopefully he is working on a fix.

Sure. It is almost done. ( https://github.com/mariolukas/FabScanPi-Server/commit/6235dd66ce4f13208d33c3568a741ac43675f386#diff-aa77e2968544782256abe2c04f8ef21d ). I think there will be a bugfix release before Christmas.

I fixed several thins until now:

  • update routine fixed ( 6235dd6 )
  • fixed loading scans from file manger ( #134 )
  • fixed laser calibration check ( #132 )

I will try to also fix the basic MeshLab support.

I don't know. Somewhere between my family and day job. 🤣
