Hey! Thank you for your feedback! You are right. I might have performed the test without a reboot.
When i perfom now a scan, after a reboot, the .ply file opened with Mashlab shows a good point cloud!!!

THX! What i do not have anymore is a preview within the browser showing the progress. But this i not so important.

You can change this by adding some solder bridges to the FabScanPi HAT. With those bridges the motor driver will run with  1/16 steps and you can leave the config as it was with 6400 steps as value. The default settings of the HAT and the config in the software fit to the earlier delivered TMC2100 driver. I think Watterott switched to the TMC2208  because this one is more reliable for using with the fabscan.

If a reboot doesn't solve it, it is difficult to determine the solution.

Hier durch habe ich keine Vorschau mehr in der Oberfläche. Es wird weiterhin eine .ply Datei erzeugt.
Diese mit Meshlab geöffnet, zeigt allerdings die gleiche Verzerrung.
