                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone, I have been working on making one of the older versions of the fabscan (the fabscan 100) because of the shortage of rasberry pi. I was able to get my hands on all the necessary pieces except it seemed that the fabscan shield is no longer compatible with arduino. Because of this, I have used a breadboard shield and wired in the stepper motor myself. The test code works perfectly, but the official code needed for the fabscan isnt working correctly. The motor does not step, the led doesn`t turn off, and I don`t recieve a ping on my computer notifying me of a finished setup. On top of this the fabscan software isn`t identifying the code and so I cant proceed until I can make the arduino code work properly. I am wondering if the issues lies in the fact that the code is outdated or perhaps some other issue I haven`t thought of. It would really mean a lot to me if anyone out there who might know something could help me with this. Any responses are greatly appreciated!</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>since no HAT and raspberry are available at the moment I try to use an UNO with the fabscanshield. The parts I am using are UNO, Shield, two red line laser (one with stepper) and a C270 Webcam. Everything works fine. At the moment I am using the windows scan software</p>
<p>Simple 3d scan created by Wolfgang Schmidt. This software can control the laser stepper.</p>
<p>My questions:</p>
<p>How to calibrate the scanner (I cannot use the raspberry build in tool.</p>
<p>How to set the parameters (world coordinates) for the laser, turntable and camera?</p>
<p>Are there any experiences?</p>

<p>I had build the scanner. The fabscanpi.log file is OK. But the scanner doesn't work. In the OS, settings option, where can test the roundtable i had started a test. The motor didn't do anything, but the led is turned on the motor controller board. The laser didn't turned on too. 🤨 </p>
<p>I had connected just the Raspberry pi power supply (5V 2A) to the system.</p>
<p>I didn't found any information on watterott site of this system combo.</p>

<p>after a 3-years long stop I started again fighting against my FabscanPi. Before COVID-19 pandemic, I added a second laser to my original setup (the base setup I bought from Wetterott Electronic); the only things that are different is the second laser (since I ordered a fixed focus red laser, but I received a focussable red laser module) and the led ring camera mount that I mounted using four springs in order to better center the camera (you can see the whole setup in the pictures, including the 3D printed laser towers and the black walls). I run the latest pre-built image on a Raspberry Pi 3B+, setting up the main clock at the standard frequency of 1400MHz (I added a small passive cooler to the CPU and I will add two small fans to cool both boards and the NEMA 17MH3410 stepper motor), and I power up the scanner using two separated PSU (a 5V PSU for the Raspberry Pi 3B+ and a 12V PSU for the FabScanPi HAT).</p>
<p>I was in <a href="https://fabscan.org/community/postid/877/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this situation</a> three years ago (with just the second laser)... now, with 0.10.0 and the latest firmware available, scan quality is decreased and even setting up the highest scan resolution the point cloud is very sparse and with low deteils (using a single laser and the 0.7.0 release I got better results three years ago...).</p>
<p>I tryed to perform a good calibration, trying to cross lasers as precisely as I could in the center of the plate, trying to better positioning the center of the camera, and verifying the height of the top of the plate (I measured 245mm and not 155mm as in the default configuration file, but checking the position of the mounting ring I found it is 5mm below the top of the NEMA 17MH3410 axis... as requested in mounting instructions).</p>
<p>Despite all I told above, my scans are unusable, dirty and completely deformed (and i fixed the scanned piece to the plate in order to avoid underided movements).<br /><br />Please help me!!!</p>

<p>I'm brand new to this, so forgive me if this question has been answered before.</p>
<p>According to the <a href="https://shop.watterott.com/RPi-FabScan-HAT-for-FabScan-Pi-3D-Scanner-Project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">watterott</a> site, the RPi HAT is currently not available.  Unfortunately, there's also no indication when it might again become available.</p>
<p>In search of alternatives (because I'd really like to try this out :-)), I've spent quite some time searching the internet and this forum.  I managed to find a suggestion that it is indeed possible via <a href="https://www.instructables.com/3D-Scanner-FabScan-Pi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">instructables</a>,  and <a href="https://fabscan.org/community/latest-release/using-an-arduino-uno-rather-than-the-hat/#post-2359" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this topic</a>.  Unfortunately as a newb I was unable to conclude what it would actually take e.g. purchasing an Arduino + <a href="https://shop.watterott.com/FabScan-Shield-for-Stepper-Motor-Driver" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FabScan shield</a>, and then everything auto-magically works ... or as a minimum a bunch of software changes are also required.  From the hardware perspective, I couldn't see where the Pi camera's ring light would connect (just as an example).</p>
<p>Does any documentation exist that could help explain this?  </p>

<p>vielleicht hat jemand bereits erfahrungen mit dem TMC2209  sammeln können.</p>
<p>Ich habe hier einige des TMC2209 V1.2 von Bigtreetech rum liegen und wollte diesen in meinem FabScan einsetzten. Meinen TMC2100 habe ich leider gehimmelt. Wie verhält es sich mit dem Pinout und der verwendung auf dem original FabscanPi-Hat. Wenn ich die beiden Pinouts vergleiche würde ich meinen, dass die Pins des SSS von Watterot anders belegt sind als die des Bigtreetech. Genauer gesagt ist auf der Pinseite des EN-Pins der vierte von "oben" beim WSSS Spread und beim BTT-Treiber PDN. Wobei dann der Nächste bei beiden PDN ist und der dannach wieder anders, dort ist dann beim WSS PDN und beim BTT-Treiber CLK.</p>

<p>Vielleicht weiß einer von euch mehr und kann mir sagen ob ich den BTT-Treiber unverändert einbauen kann.</p>
<p>Oder welche Änderungen ich vornehmen muss und natürlich ob es überhaupt nicht möglich ist.</p>
<p>Abknipsen auslöten ist alles kein Problem auch eine fliegende Verdrahtung währe denkbar wenn es nicht ander und eleganter geht.</p>

<p>Ihr kennt das bestimmt das Wochende naht man denkt man hat das passende da und dann steckt der Teufel wieder im Detail :-(</p>

<p>ich bin neu hier, heiße Markus und versuche mir gerade in einen Ciclop 3D Scanner einen Fabscan zu bauen. Da ich ein Biqu Laser V1 Board in meinem Ciclopen habe und es damit nicht funktioniert bräuchte ich ein Fabscan HAT und einen StepDown von 12v auf 5v. Ich habe bereits das ganze Internet durchsucht und finde keines. Bei Watterot ist alles ausverkauft und kein Hinweis wann wieder verfügbar. Wie ich es sonst lösen kann bin ich überfragt und mit Programmierkenntnissen erst recht. Bis jetzt habe ich einen Raspberry pi 3b+, Picam und Ringlicht mit JST anschlüssen hergerichtet, auch das Image ist bereits installiert. Beim starten des Fabscan läuft der Server nicht vermutlich da das Laser V1 Board nicht kompatibel ist.</p>
