Server downtime for more than 48 hours.

October 16, 2020/0 Comments/in News, Website/by mario

Perhaps you noticed that the server was not available for more than 48h. The reason for this was an error caused in the data center of fabscan.org’s hosting provider. Unfortunately, the flow of information about the incident was not very informative.

The official statement of the hosting company was the following message from 2020-10-14:

At 5 pm (CEST) there was a power failure in a section of our datacenter SXB,
which was caused by an error in the UPS (Uninterruptible power supply).
In the meantime, we switched the UPS into a bypass.
The affected servers will be restarted step by step. Therefore it may take
some time in individual cases until your product is available again.
We are working with the highest priority to make the services available again.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.

After dozens of tickets, twitter and facebook messages the server was finally available again. Such a long downtime with a bad to no information flow is unacceptable and therefore I will have to draw some consequences from this incident.

But for the time being the community server is running again and can be used as usual.
